Three Portable Plasma Cutting Machines to Be Shipped to South Africa

iGOLDENCNC is preparing to ship three portable plasma cutting machines to a customer in South Africa. Unlike a single-machine order, this purchase involves three units, offering the customer greater flexibility in organizing metal cutting operations and supporting daily fabrication work.

The project started with an inquiry from a South African customer looking for practical plasma cutting equipment. During the initial discussions, our sales team focused on understanding the customer’s metalworking applications, cutting requirements, and expectations for equipment mobility.

For metal fabrication businesses, having cutting equipment that is easy to operate and move between different working areas can be particularly useful. Compared with large stationary cutting systems, portable plasma cutters offer greater flexibility for workshops, maintenance operations, construction sites, and on-site metal fabrication.

After learning about the customer’s requirements, we introduced our portable plasma cutting machines and explained their operating principles, cutting applications, and configuration options.

Move the Machine to the Steel

Portable is not a marketing word in this market. The buyer’s work covers security fencing and gates, structural steel for small building jobs, agricultural implement repairs and general sheet-metal fabrication — and those jobs do not all happen in the same bay.

The requirement was that two people could move a portable plasma cutting machine between workstations in under an hour, without a forklift or an overhead crane, and have it cutting square again the same morning. That drove the format: a light gantry on folding legs with a compact control cabinet, sized so a standard 1220 × 2440 mm sheet can be loaded and cut, while the machine itself still passes through a workshop door.

The alternative the buyer had priced was a fixed heavy-bed table. It would have cut faster per hour and cost more per part, because it would have stayed in one place while the work moved.

Before packing, each of the three portable plasma cutting machines went through the same acceptance procedure: table squareness, drive calibration, torch height control response, and a test cut on mild steel across the buyer’s working thickness range. The cut samples, parameter file and consumable list travelled with the shipment so the buyer can compare the first production part against the factory reference.
