Oscillating Knife Cutting Machine 1615 Shipped to Colombia

iGOLDENCNC has completed the factory acceptance test and loaded a 1615 oscillating knife cutting machine for shipment to a customer in Colombia. The unit, built on a 1600 × 1500 mm working area.

During the communication process, our sales team discussed the customer’s production needs and the types of materials they intended to process. The order marks another delivery of the company’s digital cutting line into Latin America, where converters, packaging plants and footwear manufacturers are replacing manual knife work and laser cutting with CNC-controlled oscillating knife technology.

Why the Buyer Chose an Oscillating Knife, Not a Laser

The Colombian customer evaluated three routes before confirming the order: die cutting, laser cutting and a CNC oscillating knife cutter. Die cutting was ruled out because of tooling cost and lead time on short production runs. Laser cutting produced a charred, discolored edge on foam and released fumes that would have required additional extraction and permitting.

The oscillating knife route removes both constraints. There is no heat-affected zone, so foam, felt and textile edges stay clean and odor-free, and sealed-cell foam keeps its closed surface after cutting. Changing from one job to the next is a matter of loading a new DXF file rather than ordering a new die, which makes the machine viable for short runs, sample making and customized packaging.
